Cameron had a very rough start to his life. In addition to family issues, he suffered from ADHD and PTSD. His aunt and uncle took custody and introduced Cameron to Elephant Learning. In just a few months, Cameron overcame his lack of necessary math skills and now is on par with the rest of his peers.
Cameron has been through a lot in his short life. At age seven, Cameron was removed from his mother’s home due to neglect. His father was unable to take custody of him, so he was placed with his aunt and uncle. During his first seven years, inappropriate social media, games, cartoons, and television shows served as Cameron’s babysitters. No one worked with him on his schoolwork or learning outside of school. Even once he was safe with his aunt and uncle, Cameron struggled with ADHS, PTSD, and abandonment issues.
Cameron’s aunt was determined to normalize Cameron’s life and provide him with the academic and emotional support that had been denied to him in his early years. She was also determined to use her time with him to help him catch up to his peers, particularly in mathematics. “He is a very smart child and has improved tremendously since being placed into our custody,” says Cameron’s aunt, “but he continues to struggle in math.”
Cameron’s aunt began to search for something she could use at home to help Cameron improve and expand his understanding of mathematics. Then she stumbled on Elephant Learning.

Cameron’s aunt was struck by how intelligent her nephew was but stunned that he lacked even basic addition and subtraction skills. “We wanted him to have every opportunity to succeed,” she says. “Despite everything he has been through in his little life.”
Elephant Learning delivered those opportunities. The program provided Cameron with the opportunity to learn and review the necessary mathematical skills he lacked. But the program took him beyond just basic skills. Cameron was able to leverage these essential skills to do more advanced problem-solving. Elephant Learning’s gamification makes learning fun and engaging. This is critical to a child, like Cameron, who has not experienced much academic success and already suffers from debilitating conditions like ADHD, which makes it very difficult for him to focus.

Cameron’s success with Elephant Learning has confirmed his aunt’s assessment of her nephew’s natural intelligence. It has also accomplished the goal of putting Cameron’s mathematical abilities on par with his peers. Within a few short months, Cameron had mastered necessary mathematical skills and was challenging himself to do more.
